Developing and Printing Film 101 led by Darrius Fox

The Film Developing and Printing Workshop is designed to support local photographers by simplifying the film development and printing process. Focused on accessibility and affordability, the workshop aims to equip artists with the skills and confidence to develop their own work. Participants will learn how to process color film and the steps involved in printing their images in black and white.

Please note that participants will need to bring a pre-shot roll of color film (any stock or brand) as we will not be shooting during this workshop.

In addition, participants will gain hands-on experience handling developing chemicals and will gain a deeper understanding of the archival process. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to move beyond digital formats and create physical prints, allowing artists to engage with the tangible, hands-on nature of traditional photography.

Ultimately, this space empowers participants to preserve and showcase their work in a more intentional and personal way.

* This workshop is sponsored in part by Service Photo and Charm City Cultural Cultivation.

Artist Statement:

“I’m a rare occurrence with a creative spirit.

Ever since I was young, my imagination had no boundaries as the word ‘innovative’ and the phrase ‘in her own world’ would soon be associated with my name. A name that has created a special KEY to unforeseen doors for those who’ve helped shape my creative identity. I didn’t fully see myself as a musician or wardrobe stylist until God made me see those journeys were only preparation for a KEY that would unlock a new version of me: painting.

I’m still unwrapping this new gift from Him as I know everything will continue to unfold exactly as He intends it to for me. Overall, I always want to be known for creating and being that special KEY in someone else’s journey."
